The Bamff Rewilder’s Hut is the perfect place for a couple or individual for a quiet retreat, or base for a walking holiday, with all the charm and proximity to nature of camping but without the discomfort. It is is chic & cosy, with a double bed, solar lighting and wood burning stove, simple kitchen and table.

It sits in its own sunny clearing in open woodland facing south behind the castle with outdoor table, barbecue and fire pit close by. The adjacent  native woods are full of birdsong and red squirrels run through the trees. The Bamff beaver wetlands are a five minute walk away. Book a wildland walk during the day to learn about the Bamff rewilding project, or a beaver watch in the evening. You will usually be taken by a member of the Ramsay family.

It has its own compost toilet 10 metres away and 90 metres away there is an attractive loo and shower room, sometimes shared with the Birder’s bothy.

The Honesty Shop/self service cafe, next to the shower/loo has electricity, fridge, freezer, microwave, and excellent wifi, as well as various useful things and snacks to buy. You can recharge your phone, catch up with your emails, get some new freezer blocks, fill your water bottles etc.

The Rewilder’s Hut is on the Cateran Trail which is featured in Observer Magazine’s 10 best long-distance walks in UK. We can arrange transport to and from any other sections of the trail.

Nearby is the Scottish Woodland Skills Centre where many interesting courses are available.

If you would like to see the Bamff beavers, please let us know in advance to arrange a guided walk. You can also book tours of the wildland project.

The Wildland walk for guests is  £80 per accommodation unit and £60 for the beaver watch.  The walk  takes approximately 2 hours and happens during the day, usually starting  at 10 am or 3 pm. The guide – normally a family member – will take you round some of the Wildland area and explain our rewilding project. You will learn where the beavers live and what they eat and see many dams and other impacts.

The beaver watch walk is £60 per unit of accommodation. It takes place in the evening, usually around 8 pm.  From April to September there is usually a good chance of seeing beavers. You can normally finalise times for the guided walks at check in.

Our two nights in the Rewilder’s Hut were completely magical. Bamff is the most beautiful and peaceful spot: the perfect secluded getaway. The hut is very well kitted out, with a great little kitchen set up and very clean and comfortable bedding. The bathroom facilities on site were also clean and comfortable – plenty of hot water! The walks and wildlife were amazing. It was wonderful to see beavers, bats and frogs and feel truly immersed in the wilderness. What a special visit.

Thank you for a wonderful few days at the Rewilder’s Hut! So peaceful and atmospheric, surrounded by nature and right in the middle of the rewilding site. Everyone at Bamff was very helpful and friendly and I enjoyed lots of walks in the local area taking in the incredible sights, including ospreys and beavers! The Hut itself is very cosy and comfortable, in a beautiful spot and equipped with everything you need for a simple get-awav. Perfect for anvone who loves nature – I couldn’t recommend more!

My husband and I stayed here for an evening and we were greeted by fantastic hosts, who were extremely helpful- showing us all the facilities they had to offer. The rewilder’s hut was exactly as pictured and immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable and the stove kept us nice and warm. There was a picnic bench and barbecue to use in the peaceful surroundings at Bamff. The Bamff honesty shop was well stocked and we bought a few items from there too- super handy incase you forget anything! We enjoyed long walks around the grounds, the landscape that the beavers had formed was fascinating and we also spotted some wildlife enjoying the wetlands. 5 stars from us. Thank you to all at Bamff for a very relaxing and unique break.
