Bamff Wildland in Perthshire offers a uniquely rich environment for university field trips.
Whether you are bringing students of ecology, conservation, geography, land management or environmental science, Bamff provides hands-on, real-world experience of rewilding in action — in a setting that is both beautiful and scientifically fascinating.
We have welcomed student groups from across the UK, including Masters Ecology students from the University of Glasgow and St. Andrew’s University, and we are delighted to work with academics to design a programme that fits your course and learning objectives.
What we offer

Guided Wildland Walks & Beaver Watching
Our expert-guided wildland walks take in the beaver wetlands, dam systems, conservation grazers and the mosaic of habitats that have developed since beavers were first introduced to Bamff in 2002. Evening beaver watch walks are also available, offering the chance to observe these extraordinary animals at close quarters in their natural environment.
Academic Talks & Presentations
The elegant dining room and morning room of Bamff House provide a wonderful setting for lectures, seminars and group discussions. With wifi, a projector and screen available, and an atmosphere unlike any university seminar room. There is something about discussing rewilding while seated in a house that has shaped its own landscape over four centuries that tends to concentrate the mind.
Bespoke Itinerary Planning
No two groups are the same, and we are happy to work with course leaders to design a programme that best serves your students’ needs. A typical weekend field trip might combine an arrival walk, an evening beaver watch, a morning session in the house with presentations and discussion, and a final guided wildland walk — but we are flexible and will tailor the itinerary around your objectives.
Catering
We can arrange catering for your group, from simple working lunches to a full dinner in the house, with options to suit a range of budgets and dietary requirements. Just get in touch to discuss what would work best for you.
